Health Care Reform: Navigating through the Patient Protection & Affordability Care Act H.R. 3590 

President Obama signed legislation to reform Health Care titled Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act H.R. 3590 (PPACA). This new law was amended by further legislation (The Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act). As a result, there are many unanswered questions and frustration surrounding Health Care Reform. This workshop applies to all size businesses offering full-insured or self-funded health insurance benefits.

We will review the following:

• Provisions impacting health plans under the PPACA and HCERA
• Description of new mandated coverage levels
• PPACA implementation timeline
• New required medical loss ratios and rate reviews for all size businesses
• High Risk Pool Program, elimination of pre-existing condition restrictions and medical underwriting
• Insurance tax, employer credits and individual subsidies

To date, much of the discussion surrounding Health Care Reform has involved the federal government. Soon it will shift to the state level where much of the implementation process will take place. Our focus now shifts to educating you on the impact of this law and key strategies to meet your needs.
